Plein Air Paintings
The term “En Plein Air” translates to “outdoors” and in the context of painting comes from French impressionists who discovered joy in painting landscapes directly from life by painting outdoors looking at their subject. Painting En Plein Air allows artists to capture light and learn to paint quickly and deliberately to capture the essence of a scene.
Plein Air painting and regional paint-out events remain popular to this day. You can find me at one or more paint-out events in the southeast each year.
All of the below works were created outdoors standing in front of my subject with my easel and paint.
